Tripura’s Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath Inaugurates Krishi Vigyan Mela, Highlights Efforts to Boost Farmers’ Income

Agartala, February 06, 2025: With the support of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, farmers in the state are poised to increase their income significantly. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, dedicated to the overall development of farmers, provides continuous assistance from agricultural scientists to help farmers achieve better yields.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath on Thursday inaugurated the five-day Krishi Vigyan Mela on the occasion of Krishi Swarna Samriddhi Week at Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Panisagar under North Tripura district. Emphasizing the importance of such events, Minister Nath stated, “These fairs will play a crucial role in making the agriculture sector more prosperous and the farmers self-reliant.”

During the event, Minister Nath also laid the foundation stone for the Pig Demonstration Unit under the Rashtriya Krishi Bikash Yojana. The event was graced by Uttar Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Aparna Nath, MLA Binoy Bhushan Das, MLA Yadav Lal Nath, MLA Philip Kumar Reang, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Officer Dr. AK Mohanty and Director of the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation PB Jamatia, among others.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to doubling farmers’ income, Minister Nath said, “The government has implemented various programs aimed at doubling the income of the state’s farmers. For the welfare of farmers, agriculture and related sectors have been given utmost importance.” He also mentioned that the benefits of various Central and State Government schemes are being extended to farmers in marginal villages.

Encouraging the use of modern machinery, Minister Nath stated, “Farmers are being encouraged to use modern machinery to increase the production of agricultural products in the state.” He directed officials to take necessary initiatives to make North Tripura district a leading district in the agricultural sector within the next three years.

The Agricultural Science Fair featured stalls from various self-help groups, with the Agriculture Minister and other guests visiting the stalls. Agricultural machinery, improved seeds, and seedlings were distributed to farmers during the event. Additionally, five farmers were honored with the Krishak Samman award.

Minister Nath reiterated the government’s dedication to the agricultural sector, saying, “Such initiatives will significantly contribute to the prosperity of the agriculture sector and the self-reliance of farmers.” He expressed confidence that the combined efforts of the government and farmers would lead to substantial improvements in agricultural productivity and farmers’ livelihoods.
