Leaders from the Mizoram-based, all-female Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), ‘Mizoram Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP)’ today called on the Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at the Raj Bhavan.
During the meeting, significant roles played by the concerned NGO in Mizoram Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) were highlighted, and briefed on current issues brewing across Mizoram.
They further urged Kambhampati to closely observe the plight of the Myanmar refugees, currently residing across camps and makeshift huts.
Meanwhile, the Governor informed MHIP leaders on the crisis of clean water supply, inadequate food supply and sanitation facilities at such camps, which are leading to several health hazards.
The need for providing security for these refugee camps was also highlighted during the meeting.
Furthermore, the interstate boundary issue, and violation of status quo were also discussed.
