Meghalaya : Martyred Soldier Buried With Military Honours

Mortal remains of martyred soldier Havildar Hempiar R Marak who laid down his life, while safeguarding the nation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir was buried with full military honours on Thursday in his native village of Salpara, North Garo Hills, Meghalaya.

The atmosphere turned more somber when hundreds of people bid their final adieu to the braveheart.

Havildar Hempiar R Marak, 59 Field Regiment Artillery of the Indian Army, who was deployed along LoC in Kashmir sacrificed his life on November 28.

Meanwhile, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of North Garo Hills, B Kundu and Magistrate PK Sangma on behalf of the state government offered floral wreaths on the coffin holding mortal remains of the braveheart.

The fallen hero was given a guard of honour, and the coffin was laid to rest in presence of family members.

The Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also paid his tribute to the fallen hero. “My deepest condolences to the family of Havildar Hempiar R Marak of @adgpi who died while on duty in the LoC in Kashmir. He is being laid to rest at his native village in North Garo Hills District today. Salute him for his service to the nation!” – tweeted Sangma.
