As part of the continuing celebrations of 75th years of Independence, portraying India’s freedom struggle based on the theme “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has selected Imphal as one of the 75 cities for organizing the Walkathon and Eat Right Mela.
Through the event, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) proposes to take-up activities, events and projects, wherein people from all walks of life can join to celebrate Freedom of choice of foods to enable all citizens to eat right.
The food fair will be conducted on December 18-19, 2021 at Medical Directorate, Lamphel and City Convention, Palace Compound, Imphal.
As part of its celebrations, a painting competition will be held for students studying in Class VI-VIII.
Its worthy to note that ‘Eat Right Mela’ is an infotainment model of a street food festival, which aims to engage, excite enable citizens to make the right food choices.
It provides an opportunity to the visitors to realize the significance of safe food and healthy diets, quick tests for adults, health and nutrition benefits of food, dietary advice by experts, information on Government programmes and initiatives, and much more.
The pavilions also displays interesting exhibits and stalls showcasing local thalis, temple foods and organic foods.
