The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Health Authority (NHA) – RS Sharma asserted that he would raise the matter of poor network connectivity in northeastern regions with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and other telecom agencies to ensure that health services are not affected.

He informed the same, after health officials from eight northeastern states raised concerns on the matter, which caused delays in the delivery of health services to the public.

The National Health Authority CEO on Monday reviewed the flagship programmes – Ayushman Bharat and Ayushman Sangam with health authorities of all eight NE states. During this meeting, all state representatives raised concerns on connectivity of remote inhabitation along the region.

Meanwhile, Sharma also praised the Village Health Councils (VHCs) constituted at the village levels for ensuring that health-related issues are addressed directly by the village council, with oversight from state health authorities.

“We will strive to persuade other states to adopt this concept (Village Health Council). The goal of a review is to implement concepts that worked at the state level,” Sharma explained.
