In a major crackdown against smuggling activities, the Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles has recovered 768 cans of Foreign Beer (Dagon) worth over Rs 1 lakhs from Zote-Champhai road along the Indo-Myanmar Border of Champhai district.

Based on specific inputs, the paramilitary troop launched a joint operation; which led to the seizure of the major consignment and arrest of three offenders.

According to reports, these three perpetrators have been identified as – Mrs Lalthiangthimi, Mrs Lalringthangi & Mr Liankhatusuna. The trio hails from Champhai District of Mizoram.

Meanwhile, the recovered items were handed-over to the Excise & Narcotics Department of Champhai District for further legal proceedings.
