Tripura Police & Army’s Intelligence Department Arrests 11 Bangladeshis; 27 Held In 36 Hours

Agartala, September 07, 2022 : After arresting 16 Bangladeshi nationals from Tripura’s Rajnagar area under Sadar sub-division on Monday night, more 11 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from an area in Agartala city on Tuesday night. In the last 36 hours, 27 Bangladesh nationals were arrested from in and around Agartala city, a police official said.

During a joint operation conducted by the Army Intelligence and Tripura police, eleven male Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from Ramnagar’s Mukti Sangha on the night of Tuesday last.

Speaking to media persons, West Agartala police station official said “We received a secret information through SP office of West Tripura district at about 11.30 PM that some Bangladeshi people residing at Ramnagar area in Agartala city. On this information, a joint raid was conducted by the West Agartala police station staff and Army Intelligence at Mukta Sangha, Ramnagar road number 5.”

“During the raid, we found 11 people from Bangladesh staying there. They were arrested and produced before the court on Wednesday. From their possession, we recovered mobiles and currencies of India and Bangladesh. In the preliminary investigation, we have come to know that they are mason by profession and have come here in Agartala for work purposes. They are staying here illegally without a passport and other valid documents”, the official said.

According to the FIR report registered in West Agartala PS, it is revealed that 10 of them are said to be Bangladeshi while another one is a resident of Tripura’s Khowai district. The arrestees are- Jahidul Islam (37), Tarikh Sheikh (27), Md Rakip (24), Md Suhel (26), Sahim Ali (24), Shamin Ali (23), Abdul Awal Ali (18), Md Jashim Ali (18), Md Samrul Ali (20), Ismail Miah (42) of Bangladesh and Md Anwar Hosen Bhuiya (41) of Gamaibari, Teliamura under Khowai district.

It is worthy to mention here that the Tripura’s West Tripura police station staff arrested 16 Bangladeshi nationals from Rajnagar area in the peripheries of Agartala city, who have entered Tripura illegally.
