Mizoram : Education Minister Apprises US State Department On Myanmar Refugee Crisis; Assistance Offered By Local Populace

The Education Minister of Mizoram – Lalchhandama Ralte, who is currently on tour in America, called-upon the authorities of US State Department in Washington DC regarding Myanmar refugees in Mizoram.

Ralte informed how the Myanmar nationals received rousing welcome from the state government, church organizations, various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and local populace of Mizoram.

The Mizoram Government ensured that the child refugees were given schooling and provided them with books and midday meals.

Meanwhile, the US State Department also informed on how the Chief Minister – Zoramthanga emphasizes on education; and therefore appealed the Indian Government for their cooperation and support in giving education to refugee children.

The School Education Minister was accompanied by Mizoram State Project Director for Samagra Shiksha – Lalhmachhuana, Finance Controller of Samagra Shiksha – Lalliansanga, and representatives from the Chin Association of Maryland (CAM).

The US State Department representatives have expressed gratitude towards the Mizoram government, its people, and all other organizations for their immense hospitality towards the Myanmar refugees.

It further asserted that the US State Department is prepared to collaborate with the central and state governments in assisting the refugees.
