Mizoram University Holds Exhibition On “Contribution of Tribal Heroes In Freedom Struggle”

The Minister of Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs – Dr. K. Beichhua today inaugurated the ‘Contribution of Tribal Heroes in Freedom Struggle’ – an exhibition organized by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes in collaboration with the Mizoram University.

During the event, Prof. Lalngurliana presented a paper on the history of Ropuiliani (the vamous Mizo freedom fighter who laid down her life in fighting the Britisg Rule), the famous Mizo chiefs – Kalkhama and Lianphunga, the Fanai Chief Zakapa; and how various Mizo chiefs fought the British rule.

Besides, Dr Beichhua noted that the Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs department is currently taking-up construction of Ropuiliani Musuem at Kelsih village with an amount of Rs 1800 lakhs; and a Tribal Research Institute, also at Kelsih with an amount of Rs. 2020 lakhs sanctioned from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
