The General Secretary of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)- Sitaram Yechury, called for a united fight against the ruling BJP-IPFT government to restore democracy and economic prosperity.
Addressing a mammoth rally, Yechury said “Tripura has been witnessing violence and hatred because the majority of citizens can’t agree to the ideology of BJP. BJP failed to fulfill development commitments made prior to the elections. They are trying to fool the people by claiming it’s implementation.”
He reiterated that BJP might resort to violence, intimidation of voters, and booth capturing.
Yechury advised, “Not to fall prey to any of their evil design and resist undemocratic attempts to save the future of Tripura in coming elections. The state had a past glory of peaceful elections in festive mode during the left front regime, but now it turned into a horror.”
“The Narendra Modi government has given tax relief of Rs 11 lakh crore to the corporates in eight years, severely affecting the development process. Therefore, India is reeling under economic crisis because of the pro-rich policies of the BJP-led government at the centre. The power surplus state and profit-making electricity corporations become poor. The employees are not getting their regular benefits, no new jobs, and no work for the poor people, and a model state reduced to a beggar by BJP,” Yechury alleged.
He added that the citizens assembled to oust such an anti-people government from power.
Meanwhile, Politburo member and leader of the opposition Manik Sarkar alleged that 55 months of the rule of BJP-IPFT pushed Tripura near to a ditch in all parameters.
