Agartala, October 26, 2022 : A shocking incident took place in the peripheries of Agartala city where unidentified miscreants opened fire at a group of six youths in front of a Dhaba at Natunnagar area on the late evening of Tuesday last.

It is reported that a group of six youths went to a Dhaba at Natunnagar area in the late evening of Tuesday last and ordered for egg rolls. Spending a while, they left the Dhaba. But all of a sudden they returned to the same Dhaba as two youths sustained bullet injuries. The two youths were identified as Haripada Das and Sanjay Das. Both are of 37 years and hailed from Dighalia, Natunnagar area under Airport police station.

Locals immediately shifted the duo to a city-based private hospital for treatment. The owner of the Dhaba, Balaram Saha said “The incident has taken place at around 8.30 PM in the evening. As the area was dark, the miscreants could not be identified. However, all the youths who consumed tiffin from my shop were found to have returned, soon after we heard the gunshots. Immediately, we informed the police.”

The West Tripura district’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Shankar Debnath and Additional SP Anirban Das reached the spot along with a team of Forensic officials.

SDPO of Sadar sub-division Ajay Kumar Das said “In the initial stage, investigation is underway. Some clues has been gathered through which probe can be proceeded further. The firing has been made from country-made gun. Very soon, we will get a lead in the case.”

Tripura police in its official Twitter handle wrote “On the firing incident took place at Natunnagar yesterday (25.10.2022) Police registered a specific case and arrested two FIR named accused persons and also seized two suspected vehicles within 6 hours of the incident. Further investigation is going on.”
