Tripura Girl Wins Gold Medal At SHUATS University Convocation

Agartala, October 31, 2022: Sunayana Deb, a Tripura girl was awarded “Gold” medal for being the topper in Agri M.Sc (Plant Pathology) from Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, formerly Allahabad Agricultural University. She secured 85 percent in Agri. MSc.

Sunayana completed her thesis on “Effect of Rice Bran and Soybean Flour on the Growth and Yield of White Oyster Mushroom [Pleurotus florida (Mont.) Singer]”, which was later published in one of famous journal named as “Biological Forum”.

Born to Sajal Chandra Deb, a retired Municipal Council employee and Arpita Deb, a house wife of Kazirgoan, Sunayana also topped the Agri. BSC examination in Baba Farid Institute of Technologies under Hemwati Nandan Garhwal University, Dehradun by obtaining 87 percent.

“Since her school days, she developed a passion for Agriculture. Accordingly, after the Higher Secondary examination, she was admitted to Agri. BSc, to fulfil her ambition. Not only in academics, she has a great passion for writing. During leisure time, she keeps composing poems,” added her father.

Currently, Sunayana is employed as a Research Executive at one of the top agriculture market research companies.

Speaking to Northeast Today, Sunayana said, she wants to be an Agri. Scientist and contribute in the field of plant pathology. When farmers are more attracted towards excessive use of chemicals, she is trying to bring more farmers under organic farming by developing new organic pesticides and botanicals.
