In a filmy style, a minor boy of 17 years old has murdered four of his family members in Tripura’s Kamalpur sub-division on the afternoon of Saturday last. Police arrested the accused minor boy on Sunday.

According to police sources, the 17-year old boy of Haradhan Debnath killed his own mother, sister, grandfather and a neighbouring relative at ward number 2 of Durai Shib Bari Panchayat under Kamalpur police station in Dhalai District.

The murdered persons are- grandfather Badal Debnath (70), mother Samita Debnath (32), sister Suparna Debnath (10) and relative Rekha Deb (42).

They all were hacked to death and buried in a pit within his house premises. The accused minor boy went absconding after committing the crime, the police sources said.

Neighbouring eye-witnesses in ward number 2 Durai Shib Bari Panchayat said that music was played last afternoon in high volume so that people cannot hear the screams of the family members and organized the killing spree.

Consequently, another neighbour Phulmati Deb, an Anganwadi worker by profession went to Haradhan Debnath’s house for any purpose and saw the crime scene. She informed the police in the evening of Saturday last.

Police immediately rushed to the spot of incident and shifted the deadbodies to the hospital morgue.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Dhalai district Ramesh Yadav rushed to the spot on Sunday. The Kamalpur police station staff succeeded in arresting the accused minor boy from Halhali Fuel Filling Station.

A case has been registered under sections 63, 302 and 201 of IPC. Investigation is underway to find out the actual motive of the crime. Forensic experts visited the site of multiple murders on Sunday morning, SP Yadav said.

Local people doubted that the quadruple murders cannot be done by a minor 17-year old boy, there might be someone who was involved with him in executing the murders. However, the local people and police suspected that the minor boy is addicted to drugs.
