Agartala, November 16, 2022: Former Chief Minister and incumbent Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday claimed that the new voters will be replacing the unhappy ‘karyakartas’ of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the forthcoming assembly election.

On the auspicious occasion of “National Press Day – 2022”, former Chief Minister and incumbent Rajya Sabha MP Deb on Wednesday afternoon interacted with media personnel comprising editors, news editors, proprietors, bureau-in-chiefs, senior journalists, reporters and photo-journalists at his official residence here.

Deb said that there were over 25 lakh voters before the 2018 assembly election and at present, more than 27 lakh electorates will exercise their democratic rights while among them, 2.5 lakh voters of new voters. He appealed to the karyakartas to visit the new voters and request them to exercise their democratic right in favour of BJP as they remain awaiting for invitation.

“However, vote rigging may take place on the day of polling due to unhappiness prevailing within the party organization. This new 2.5 lakh voters will be replaced with the unhappy ‘karyakartas’ whosoever is unwilling to favour BJP in the ensuing assembly election”, he added.

Interacting with media representatives, Deb replied to a bunch of queries in connection to the forthcoming assembly election slated to be held early next year. He also clarified the stand point of BJP and its allied partner IPFT before the election in 2018 and 2023 across the state. However, he claimed that the TIPRA Motha is not a matter of worry as the Lotus flower will bloom in all 20 ST-reserved seats without any trouble.

In view of the auspicious “National Press Day”, the former CM urged the people of different media houses to publish and broadcast the news stories in such a way that the outsiders can easily assess the scenario of the state. “Reading newspapers is a common habit amongst many. People visiting Tripura for different purposes do collect newspapers in order to get through the activities going on across the state. Hence, it is the responsibility of newspaper establishments to publish news which is worthy for the state’s betterment aiming to create a healthy impact on all. Assessment will go wrong if the news items are slander ones”, he also added.

Taking a dig at opposition CPIM and Congress parties, Rajya Sabha MP Deb said “Every election is tough, if the political party leaders feel it’s easy then they will definitely lose. BJP sees every election as tough and it is also a fact that there is no party other than BJP. However, the Congress party has no leadership for campaigning and appealing for votes. Similarly, CPIM is in the same state of affairs as Muslim League has supported the Communists party in Kerala. It is guardianless.”

Differentiating “Manifesto” and “Vision Document”, Deb said “The simple difference between election manifesto is commitment while vision document clearly signifies target. CPIM’s election manifesto focuses on holding movements and raising slogans that the centre is depriving the state. Nothing else is found in this manifesto. However, a vision document is a set of targets which needs to be accomplished. Accordingly, the vision document had 12 prime targets which have been fulfilled.” He claimed that employment nearing 5 lakh of youths have taken place so far across the state.
