Agartala, November 18, 2022: An MBBS doctor was arrested by Tripura Police on charges of rape and cheating a nurse at Dashamighat area under Teliamura police station in Khowai district.

Reportedly, Dr Surajit Das of Teliamura sub-divisional hospital and resident of Master Para area under Melaghar police station in Sepahijala district got involved in a relationship with a hospital nurse in Agartala city for the last six to seven months.

Most often, it is learned that the nurse in Agartala rush to the rented house of Dr Surajit Das at Dashamighat in Teliamura. It is alleged that both the medical staff has physical relationship.

In May last, the doctor called the nurse at his rented house and offered to get physical, but she refused it. Promising to marry, the nurse accepted the offer of doctor. As the situation is not getting a good shape down the line, the nurse understood the evil mentality of the doctor.

In this context, the victim nurse approached the Women’s police station in Agartala city, but complaint has been transferred to Teliamura police station. The registered case number is 118/2022. Teliamura police personnel started investigation under sections 376, 417, 325 and 506 of Indian Penal Code.

After investigation, the Teliamura police station staff arrested the accused rapist and doctor Surajit Das from the rented house at Dasami Ghat. Later, the police produced accused Surajit Das to Khowai court.

Meanwhile, according to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital sources, the victim nurse used to sit in front of the hospital for hours in a car and used to chat with the accused Dr Surajit Das.

The incident of rape by a doctor in Teliamura has spread sensation all over the sub-division.
