Guwahati, July 28, 2023: The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) in Guwahati has issued an official report warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in the coming days for Assam and other northeastern states.
On July 28, most areas in the Northeast, including Assam, are expected to experience thunder and lightning along with very heavy rainfall.
As the weather pattern progresses into July 29, the region will continue to witness heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning in specific parts of northeastern India.
The trend of heavy rainfall persists on July 30, with a high likelihood of most places in Assam and neighboring states receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall, as indicated in the forecast report.
Looking ahead to August 1, Assam is expected to receive heavy rain, along with rainfall in other states of Northeast India.
To keep the public informed and prepared, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued a public interest message regarding the forecast of thunderstorms with lightning and light rain, likely to occur at isolated places in Kamrup Metropolitan district within the next 3 hours, as advised by IMD Guwahati.
