Guwahati, August 07, 2023: A delegation from the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), representing various Zo ethnic groups in Manipur, is set to fly to Delhi on Monday to attend a crucial meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The meeting aims to address the ongoing strife in the northeastern state, which has been grappling with ethnic clashes between Kukis and Meiteis for the past three months, resulting in a tragic loss of over 160 lives.

According to sources, the ITLF leaders responded positively to an invitation extended by Amit Shah. Before confirming their participation, the delegation held a day-long discussion on Saturday, seeking consultation with Chief Minister Zoramthanga. Expressing optimism, Zoramthanga shared his hopes that the talks will yield positive outcomes.

The ITLF leaders recently arrived in the Mizoram capital from Churachandpur in Manipur, and they will be departing for Delhi from Lengpui airport nearby. While Shah had earlier invited the group to discuss the situation in Manipur, attempts to reach the ITLF leaders for comments on the upcoming meeting were unsuccessful.

The meeting with the Home Minister is seen as an opportunity for a face-to-face dialogue to address the challenges and find potential solutions to restore peace in the strife-torn region.
