During a campaign rally in support of the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma underscored the robust relationship between the NPP and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over the past decade.
Sangma, affirming the solidity of the ten-year alliance, emphasized the prioritization of citizen welfare amidst challenges faced.
“The ten-year alliance between the BJP-led NDA and NPP is solid. Despite facing numerous obstacles, we have always put the needs of the citizens first in all of our decisions,” asserted Sangma.
Echoing confidence in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Sangma reaffirmed the unity among NDA constituents, emphasizing their collective belief in India’s advancement under the stewardship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“By 2028, India’s economy will rank third in the world, and by 2047, it will be a developed country,” Sangma predicted, expressing optimism for India’s future trajectory.
In a notable shift from previous electoral strategies, Sangma acknowledged the separate contesting of state assembly polls by BJP and NPP despite their alliance. However, post-election, both parties forged an alliance to govern Meghalaya.
Expressing gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi for abstaining from fielding BJP candidates in two parliamentary seats in Meghalaya, Sangma credited PM Modi’s leadership for the significant development witnessed in the northeast region, including Meghalaya.
