After five days of rigorous cleaning, the Doyang cleaning mission was successfully completed yesterday with various departments participating and NGOs and volunteers from various areas.
Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, said the waste collected from the river will be processed and transported to the respective processing centers. He added that the segregation of waste into degradable and non-biodegradable was done at the mission site itself.
To prevent such yearly occurrences in the future, the District Administration is in touch with the State Government for suggestions on addressing this crucial issue. The Deputy Commissioner also requested the general public of the Doyang area and neighboring villages to adopt resolutions for managing waste to keep the catchment area plastic-free and to make Doyang cleaner and more beautiful.
