Manipur, July 10: A hunger strike was launched by the students of Dhanamanjuri University on July 9 due to the non-appointment of regular VC, Registrar, non-teaching staff along with issues regarding the university’s improper functioning over the past six years, as stated in a notice by the Dhanamanjuri University Students’ Union.

However, the campus hunger protest later escalated to an indefinite hunger strike following security forces’ intervention on campus and the administration’s lack of positive response.
