Kohima, Aug 6: The State Election Commission (SEC) Nagaland has declared all wards in 14 Town Councils across the Eastern Districts as vacant due to a complete lack of participation in the scheduled elections.

The affected Town Councils, which include Mon, Aboi, Naginimora, Tizit, Tobu, Longleng, Tamlu, Noklak, Tuensang, Longkhim, Shamator, Kiphire, Pungro, and Seyochung, failed to hold elections on the scheduled date of April 29, prompting the SEC to take drastic action.

The declaration of vacancy raises questions about the state of local governance and electoral participation in Nagaland. The SEC is expected to take further action to address the situation and ensure that the democratic process is upheld.
