Agartala, August 12: A school teacher in Tripura’s Gomati district was assaulted by a mob and later died after being accused of molesting a minor girl student during private tuition.

The police have registered an FIR in connection with the incident but no arrests have been made yet.

The teacher, in his 40s, was allegedly molested the girl in Udaipur town, leading to a severe beating by local people.

The teacher was arrested and granted bail but fell ill after returning home and was admitted to the GBP Hospital in Agartala, where he died during treatment.

Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy condemned the attack, stating that taking the law into one’s hands is a crime, and assured that the police will take legal action against those involved.

Chief Minister Manik Saha has been informed of the incident, and an investigation is underway.
