Agartala, August 19, 2024: In a series of operations conducted on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, Border Security Force (BSF) troops in West Tripura District successfully apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals attempting to cross the border fencing near BOP Harnakhola under Sidhai police station in West district.
Among the detainees, two are residents of Maulvibazar District while five including a woman and a child hail from Brahmanbaria. Authorities recovered 1.5 lakh Bangladeshi Taka and 300 US dollars from their possession.
In a separate operation, BSF personnel apprehended an Indian national near BOP Mantoli under Amtali police station. The individual was found with 14 small packets of suspected brown sugar. Subsequent interrogation led to the finding of 1,000 yaba tablets hidden near Nischintapur bridge.
Additionally, BSF troops seized a significant quantity of contraband, including a large stash of cannabis and 1.75 tons of sugar, in various operations across the district.
The BSF in Tripura has intensified its operations and border domination efforts to prevent infiltration and curb transborder crimes.
