Sikkim: MP Indra Hang Subba And DT Lepcha Lead Plantation Drive in Pakyong

Gangtok, Aug 30: In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Indra Hang Subba and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) DT Lepcha participated in a plantation drive at the ADC (Dev) office premises in Pakyong.

The drive, organized under the Mission Revival of Barren Land initiative, aimed to promote environmental preservation and featured the theme “Ek Ped Mere Ma Kah Nam”. The MPs planted a ‘Rudraksha’ sapling, a species revered for its spiritual significance in Hinduism, Buddhism, and other ancient traditions.

The event saw participation from other dignitaries, including Minister Raju Basnet, Minister Puran Gurung, Zilla Adakshya Laden Lamu Bhutia, and officials from the Pakyong administration. The collaborative effort underscores the shared commitment towards a greener future and environmental sustainability.
