Kohima, Oct 14: The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has reiterated that Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) possess legislative and executive powers to govern local affairs, making consultations with specific organizations non-mandatory.

In a statement, the DMC encouraged citizens to approach its office with grievances instead of resorting to media outlets, which may create confusion and tarnish the image of the newly formed civic bodies.

The council assured its openness to dialogue, inviting community members to engage constructively to address issues. Citizens were also cautioned against spreading misinformation based on hearsay.

DMC urged individuals with complaints about unfair or illegal activities to report them directly to the council or relevant ULB. The council is working to streamline the system after a long gap, ensuring efficient governance in Dimapur.
