Imphal, Oct 16: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has announced significant economic recovery in the state, with an 18% growth in State’s Own Resources, including State GST, from May to September 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

The state government’s efforts to expedite delayed projects have yielded results, with land-related matters for National Highway and Railway projects being resolved. About 50% of pending land has been made available for National Highway Projects in the last year.

Several major infrastructure projects are underway, including the Rs. 650 crore Lamphelpat Waterbody Rejuvenation Project, the Rs. 1100 crore Imphal Sewerage Project Phase II, and the Rs. 1660 crore Imphal Ring Road project.

In the education sector, the government has launched the ‘College Fagathansi Mission’ with an initial outlay of Rs. 60 crores to improve Government Colleges across the state. This follows the successful ‘School Fagathansi Mission’ launched in 2019.

Chief Minister Singh attributed the progress to the state government’s concerted efforts towards economic recovery, following the unrest that began on May 3, 2023.
