Gangtok, Nov 5 – Sikkim has inaugurated two new colleges specializing in pharmacy and nursing under the Medhavi Skills University (MSU) on November 4. The event, held in Gangtok, was attended by key figures including S D Dhakal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, and several prominent officials from government and industry sectors.
These institutions are part of MSU’s ongoing initiative to promote skill-based education and enhance the employability of local youth, especially in critical healthcare sectors. The move is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals and provide practical, industry-focused training to students.
MSU has also forged strategic partnerships with organizations like LOGICKNOTS, Transorze Information Solutions Pvt Ltd, and Trika Energy Research Pvt Ltd, along with collaborations with hospitality giants such as Club Mahindra Resort – Le Vintuna, aimed at offering students invaluable industry exposure.
At the inauguration, Dhakal highlighted the importance of closing skill gaps, particularly for young people and school dropouts, underscoring the role of skill-based education in India’s vision for long-term development by 2047.
Kuldip Sarma, Co-Founder and Pro-Chancellor of MSU, reiterated the university’s dedication to transforming education through a skills-driven approach. He emphasized that the new colleges will not only address the increasing demand for healthcare professionals in Sikkim but also equip students with the skills necessary for the global job market.
