A tiger carcass was discovered in the Horonbali Chapori area of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam’s Biswanath district on Monday. Forest officials suspect that the tiger may have died due to a territorial fight with another tiger.

The carcass was spotted by forest guards during a routine patrol, prompting senior forest officials and veterinary doctors to rush to the site for an initial examination. Following their assessment, the carcass was disposed of in their presence.

While the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed, initial investigations suggest the tiger succumbed to injuries from a territorial conflict. The body has been sent for forensic testing to determine the precise cause.

Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has been a Tiger Reserve since 2006 and is home to around 135 tigers, according to the latest census.
