Guwahati, Nov 25 : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday reiterated that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) policy is “appeasement to none and justice for all,” reflecting the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” Sarma emphasized that this approach is visible in the equitable distribution of government welfare schemes, which are made available to all communities without any form of discrimination.

Sarma highlighted initiatives like the Orunoday and Nijut Moina schemes, stressing that they benefit people across the state, including those in his own constituency of Jalukbari. He assured that all regions and communities are treated equally, underscoring the government’s commitment to fairness and equal opportunities for everyone.

The Chief Minister also pointed to the BJP’s recent electoral success in constituencies with significant Muslim populations, such as Karimganj and Samaguri, as evidence that the party’s development-focused policies are gaining support across all sections of society. In Karimganj, where over 65% of the population is Muslim, the BJP emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha elections, demonstrating broad-based support for its agenda.

Sarma also addressed the role of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), suggesting that its absence in the Samaguri by-election played a crucial role in the BJP’s decisive victory, as anti-Congress votes shifted toward the BJP.

The recent by-elections in Assam, held in five Assembly constituencies, saw significant wins for the BJP and its allies. The party retained four out of the five seats, including Dholai, Behali, Bongaigaon, and Sidli. In Samaguri, BJP candidate Diplu Ranjan Sarmah won by more than 26,000 votes, defeating Congress’s Tanzil Hussain. Other victories included Nihar Ranjan Das and Diganta Ghatowal (BJP) in Dholai and Behali, AGP’s Diptimayee Choudhury in Bongaigaon, and UPPL in Sidli.
