Agartala, Dec 2: The Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended 675 illegal immigrants in Tripura in 2024, including 55 Rohingya refugees, according to an official statement released on Sunday.
The arrests, made between January 1 and November 30, also included 620 Bangladeshi nationals and 260 Indians. The BSF continues its vigilant efforts along the 856-km border with Bangladesh to prevent illegal immigration and ensure border security.
In addition to the arrests, the BSF seized significant amounts of contraband, including 66,316 bottles of phensedyl cough syrup, over 9,000 kg of ganja, and more than six lakh yaba tablets. These seizures reflect the force’s continued efforts to curb cross-border smuggling and illegal activities.
