Sikkim has been awarded the ‘Gold’ for Best Emerging Eco-Tourism Destination at the Outlook Traveller Awards 2024, held in New Delhi on November 30. This prestigious award highlights the state’s growing reputation as a leader in sustainable tourism.
The Outlook Traveller Awards recognize excellence in the travel and tourism industry, with a focus on sustainability, innovation, and service. Sikkim’s victory emphasizes its commitment to eco-friendly tourism practices and its increasing prominence as an eco-tourism hub.
The award was presented by Satpal Ji Maharaj, Minister of Tourism, Uttarakhand. N. Sridhar Rao, IPS, OSD, and Peden Bhutia, Assistant PRO of the Tourism Department of Sikkim, accepted the award on behalf of the state.
The Tourism Department expressed its gratitude to the Chief Minister, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the Chief Secretary for their continued support in achieving this milestone.
