In a significant boost to sports infrastructure in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a newly constructed Indoor Stadium and laid the foundation for a swimming pool in Sarupathar.
The Indoor Stadium, built at a cost of ₹2 crore, features two badminton courts and table tennis facilities. After its foundation was laid in 2023, the stadium is now open to the public, offering enhanced opportunities for sports enthusiasts in the region.
Additionally, CM Sarma laid the foundation for a swimming pool in Sarupathar, which will be developed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Numaligarh Refinery Limited at an estimated cost of ₹75 lakh.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that these new sports facilities would help nurture local talent and contribute to the development of grassroots sports in the state. The 4,000-seater stadium, which began construction in 2022, is expected to serve as a key venue for emerging athletes in the region.
