Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has officially inaugurated the newly constructed Science Block and additional classrooms at Sngap Syiem College in Mawkyrwat. The development, funded under the RUSA 2.0 Infrastructure Grant to Colleges, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance educational infrastructure in the region.
During the inauguration, CM Sangma highlighted the significant strides made in the state’s education sector over the past six years, particularly in infrastructure development, faculty expansion, and the implementation of key reforms. He reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing education as a key driver of the state’s progress.
In line with the National Education Policy (NEP), CM Sangma also announced the state Cabinet’s approval to introduce Science and Commerce streams at five government colleges, further increasing academic opportunities for students.
To support the growth of Sngap Syiem College, the Chief Minister revealed that the college would be included in the People’s College initiative to offer the Science stream. Additionally, he sanctioned a school bus for the college and ₹20 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) for the construction of a Multipurpose Hall.
