Guwahati, Dec 12: The Assam government has announced that Aadhaar card applications will be rejected for individuals or families who have not applied for inclusion in the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

This decision was made during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma citing concerns over illegal immigration from Bangladesh. He emphasized that the move aims to protect the demographic integrity of the state.
