Tripura: Six Drug Dealers Arrested in Agartala, Narcotics Worth Rs 1.50 Lakh Seized

Agartala, December 13, 2024: In a significant crackdown on narcotics, West Agartala police arrested six drug dealers, including two women, during a raid at the Battala area in Agartala city. The operation was based on a secret tip-off, led to the seizure of narcotics worth approximately Rs 1.5 lakh.

SDPO Debaprasad Dey explained the details of the operation stating, “We received information that a large quantity of narcotics would be bought and sold in the Battala area. Acting on this tip-off, our team conducted a raid in plain clothes. Initially, we arrested four male drug dealers. Following their interrogation, we were able to apprehend two female drug dealers as well.”

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ramu Das, Abhinash Debnath, Sanju Debnath, Animesh Das, Pooja Ghosh and Pinky Das. “A specific case has been registered against them, and they are currently under investigation,” said SDPO Dey.

He further added, “The suspects will be handed over to the court on police remand. This operation underscores our commitment to eradicating the drug menace from our community. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.”

The successful raid and subsequent arrests highlight the effective coordination and swift action by the West Agartala police, aiming to curb the drug trade and ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
