Agartala, December 14, 2024: The state government has placed significant emphasis on the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Project, aiming to create employment opportunities for the youth through skill development. This initiative was highlighted by the state’s Industries and Commerce Minister, Santana Chakma, during a program organized to raise awareness about the MMDUP (Mukhyamantri Matru Vandana Yojana) on Saturday.
Minister Santana Chakma inaugurated the journey of a promotional vehicle for the project by waving the green flag and unveiling a new logo. “These promotional vehicles will be launched in each district to promote the government’s skill development projects,” she announced. The event was attended by Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Brishaketu Debbarma, Chairman of the South Zonal of Agartala Municipal Corporation Pradip Chanda and well-known state cricketer Mani Shankar Murasingh.
In her speech, Minister Chakma emphasized the project’s primary objective: “The main goal of the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Project is to provide employment to unemployed youth by training them, enabling them to stand on their own feet.” She also revealed plans to launch an app that will allow aspiring trainees to indicate their preferred subjects for training, ensuring that the training is tailored to their interests and needs. “We have allocated 50 crore taka for this five-year project,” she added.
Minister Brishaketu Debbarma echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of skill development in empowering the youth. “Skill development is crucial for the economic growth of our state. By equipping our youth with the necessary skills, we are paving the way for a brighter future,” he said.
Renowned cricketer Mani Shankar Murasingh also expressed his support for the initiative, stating, “This project is a great opportunity for the youth of our state to gain valuable skills and secure employment. I am proud to be associated with this cause.”
