CD Ratio Crucial for Economic Development, Says Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha at North Eastern Banker’s Conference

Agartala, December 21, 2024: Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha underscored the importance of the Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio in the economic development of both the country and the state while addressing the North Eastern Bankers Conference today.

During his speech, Chief Minister Saha highlighted the progress made under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, stating, “So far, 10 lakh 83 thousand Jan Dhan Bank accounts have been opened in Tripura.” He also noted the availability of ATM service facilities in every district of the state and the benefits reaped from the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Loan Scheme.

“Most of the villages in the state are now under banking services,” said Saha. He elaborated on the implementation of central flagship projects aimed at improving the state’s financial system and emphasized the ongoing efforts to provide loans for agriculture, MSME, and Mudra sectors.

The Chief Minister expressed optimism about the role of banks in enhancing the CD ratio, which he believes is pivotal for economic growth. “The CD ratio plays an important role in the economic development of the country and the state. I hope that banks will significantly contribute to increasing the CD ratio in the coming days,” Saha added.

The conference brought together key stakeholders from the banking sector, focusing on strategies to bolster financial inclusion and economic development in the North Eastern region.
