Agartala, December 26, 2024: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Sribhumi district police seized over one and a half lakh Yaba tablets worth approximately Rs 45 crore in the Hatikhira area under Bazaricherra police station on Tuesday night. The tablets were being smuggled into Tripura from outside the state.
The police conducted a raid on a lorry with registration number AS01AD-1696 and recovered the illicit drugs. Along with the seizure, the police arrested a drug smuggler from Tripura named Sushanta Rudra Pal.
Assam Police stated, “During the raid, we seized more than one and a half lakh Yaba tablets, which have a black market value of around Rs 45 crore. The operation was successful due to the timely intelligence and coordinated efforts of our team.”
A case under the NDPS section has been registered against Sushant Rudrapal. “The arrested smuggler has been handed over to the Sribhumi district court on Wednesday morning,” added the police.
The seizure marks a significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking in the region, as authorities continue to crack down on illegal drug operations to ensure public safety and security.
