Agartala, December 28, 2024: Job seekers staged a protest in front of Tripura’s Umakanta Academy in Agartala city demanding the immediate recruitment of fire workers and drivers in the Tripura Fire Service. The protesters later submitted a deputation to the Director of Fire Service, urging swift action in releasing the recruitment results and completing the hiring process.
Speaking to reporters, one of the protesters said, “We have been waiting for almost two years since the notice for recruitment was issued. The delay is unacceptable, and we demand that the results be published immediately. If our demands are not met, we will escalate our movement.”
The aggrieved job seekers highlighted that a recruitment notice for 329 posts in the Tripura Fire Service was issued in 2022. Physical and written tests were conducted shortly thereafter. However, despite the passage of nearly two years, the department has failed to release the results, leaving the candidates in a state of uncertainty.
“This delay has shattered our hopes and caused immense frustration. We submitted a deputation to the Agartala Fire Service office to seek clarity, but we are yet to receive any satisfactory response,” another protester lamented.
The group has also appealed to Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha to intervene and address their concerns. “We urge the Chief Minister to take this matter seriously and ensure that justice is delivered to us. The youth of Tripura deserve transparency and accountability,” one of the protesters stated.
The job seekers have warned of intensifying their protests if the authorities fail to address their grievances. “We are prepared to launch a larger movement if our voices continue to be ignored,” they declared, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.
