Arunachal Pradesh Among Top Three States With Largest Forest Cover: ISFR 2023

Arunachal Pradesh has secured a place among the top three states in India with the largest forest cover, as per the India State of Forest Report (ISFR) 2023. With 65,882 square kilometers of forest area, the state ranks second, following Madhya Pradesh, which tops the list with 77,073 square kilometers.

The state’s impressive forest cover, which accounts for over 75% of its total land area, underscores its significant role in environmental conservation. The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh praised the efforts of the Forest Department and various stakeholders in protecting and expanding the state’s forest resources.

In a statement on social media, the Chief Minister emphasized the vital role of forests in mitigating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. He urged the people of Arunachal Pradesh to continue supporting sustainable development and the preservation of the environment.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the numerous benefits of forest conservation, including soil erosion prevention, regulation of water cycles, biodiversity enhancement, and the provision of essential resources like wood, fruits, and medicinal plants.
