Manipur: Police Personnel Arrested With 10.2 Kg Of WY Tablets

In a significant anti-drug operation, Manipur Police arrested a police personnel, Md. Abdul Matalip, with approximately 10.2 kg of suspected WY tablets. The arrest took place at Pallel Mamang Leikai, along the Pallel-Chandel road in Kakching District.

Md. Abdul Matalip, who is a rifleman of the 1st Manipur Rifles and attached to the CID (SB), was posted at Khongjom Post. He hails from Sangaiyumpham Mairenkhun Mayai Leikai in Thoubal District. The arrested individual, along with the seized contraband, has been handed over to Kakching Police Station for further investigation.

Taking to social media platform X, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh confirmed the arrest and lauded the swift action by the Kakching CDO team.

“I applaud the efforts of the CDO-Kakching team for their swift action in apprehending the individual. Approximately 10.2 kg of suspected WY tablets was seized during the operation,” the Chief Minister stated.

The Chief Minister also expressed concern about the influence of drug money, even on security personnel. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to tackling the drug menace in Manipur, emphasizing the need for accountability within law enforcement agencies.
