Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu Flags Off Historic Brahmaputra River Rafting Expedition

Itanagar, Jan 11 (PTI) – Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday flagged off the groundbreaking Brahmaputra River rafting expedition, which is set to cover 916 kilometers from Gelling in Upper Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, to Hatsingimari in Dhubri district, Assam. The expedition, organized by the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), will begin on January 14 and conclude on February 14.

During the flag-off ceremony, Khandu interacted with the team, led by NIMAS Director Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal. He extended his best wishes to the participants, expressing confidence in their ability to complete the challenging journey. Khandu highlighted the expedition’s goal of promoting adventure tourism, fostering environmental awareness, and inspiring youth to take up adventure sports.

This historic rafting journey will be one of the longest and most challenging undertaken in India, showcasing the potential of river rafting as an adventure sport. The team, including seven members from Arunachal Pradesh, is poised to make a significant contribution to India’s adventure tourism sector.
