Guwahati, Jan 20: Gyanendra Pratap Singh, the current Director General of Assam Police, has been appointed as the new Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The appointment was formalized through an order issued by the Personnel Ministry on January 18.

Singh, a 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, will serve in the position until his superannuation on November 30, 2027. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the decision.

The CRPF had been operating under the temporary leadership of Senior IPS officer Vitul Kumar following the retirement of Anish Dayal Singh on December 31, 2024.
