The Manipur government has declared a half-holiday today as a mark of respect for the late N. Kayisii, former MLA of Tadubi constituency and State President of the National People’s Party (NPP), who passed away after a prolonged illness at the age of 59.
All government offices and educational institutions across the state will remain closed from 1 PM onwards, according to an official statement. The last rites will be held today at his birthplace, Makhan Khuman Village, in Senapati district.
A state-level honor was accorded to him on Sunday at his official residence in Imphal. Leaders, including Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Minister N.Biren Singh, Former CM O.Ibobi, expressed their condolences, mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant.
Kayisii, who served as the Minister of Tribal and Hill Affairs and Fisheries during the 2017 tenure, was widely admired for his commitment to the development and welfare of his constituency. Known for his grassroots approach, he played a pivotal role in addressing key issues and advancing progress in Tadubi.
The half-holiday serves as a gesture to honor his legacy and contributions, marking the profound respect he commanded across Manipur.
