Assam Rifles Seize 60,000 Yaba Tablets Worth ₹12 Crore in West Tripura

Agartala, January 21, 2025: In a meticulously planned operation, the Assam Rifles successfully intercepted a major narcotics smuggling attempt in the General Area of Salbagan, West Tripura on Monday. The operation led to the recovery of 60,000 yaba tablets, valued at approximately Rs 12 crore in the international market.

Two individuals were apprehended during the operation. They have been identified as Kanai Das (36), son of Sukumar Das from Bamutia village, and Kishan Kumar Sarkar (32), son of Sachi Kumar Sarkar from Rangutia village, both in West Tripura.

“The Assam Rifles remain resolute in combating drug trafficking and safeguarding the region from the scourge of narcotics,” said an official spokesperson for the Assam Rifles. “This operation highlights our commitment to ensuring a secure and drug-free society.”

The seized contraband and the apprehended individuals have been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The Assam Rifles’ continued vigilance and proactive measures have been lauded by local authorities, emphasizing the critical role the paramilitary force plays in curbing illicit activities in the region.
