The Congress party on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of abdicating his responsibility over the Manipur crisis by “outsourcing” the situation to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The opposition party sharply criticized Modi for failing to visit the violence-stricken state, which has been grappling with ethnic unrest since May 3, 2023.
The criticism followed a social media post in which PM Modi extended greetings to the people of Tripura, Meghalaya, and Manipur on their statehood days. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh pointed out that while Modi had sent a message online, he had stubbornly refused to visit Manipur despite the ongoing violence.
Ramesh reiterated the Congress demand for the Prime Minister to personally visit the state, calling his inaction an abdication of leadership and responsibility.
