Agartala, January 21, 2025: In a unique initiative to inspire young minds, a 15-year-old girl named Tapashree Chakraborty from the Sadhutila area took charge as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of West Tripura district for a day. This special appointment was part of the Police Week celebrations aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of police duties among students.
Arriving at the district police headquarters in the official vehicle of the SP, Tapashree was greeted with salutes from police personnel, symbolizing the respect accorded to her temporary position. Sitting in the chair of the SP, she reviewed the workings of the police across the district, gaining first-hand insight into the responsibilities of law enforcement.
Speaking about the initiative, the actual Superintendent of Police for West Tripura said, “On this special occasion, students were given responsibilities in all police stations and SP offices across the district. This unique experience allowed them to learn about the daily duties of the police and understand the dedication required to serve society.”
He further highlighted the impact of the initiative, stating, “Many children dream of becoming police officers. By giving them this opportunity, we hope to inspire them and instill a sense of enthusiasm for public service.”
The SP also shared a motivational message with the students, urging them to stay away from drugs and focus on their studies to achieve their dreams and fulfill the aspirations of their families.
In various police stations, school students symbolically assumed the roles of Officers-in-Charge (OCs), where they reviewed cases and observed police procedures. The initiative aimed to create awareness about the role of law enforcement and promote cooperation between citizens and the police.
“The main reason behind this program is to ensure that young boys and girls understand the importance of the police force and the need to uphold the law,” the SP added. He emphasized that such initiatives are essential to building trust and encouraging responsible behavior among youth.
This remarkable event marked a significant step toward bridging the gap between the police and the community while inspiring the younger generation to pursue their dreams.
