Agartala, January 22, 2025: The 53rd Statehood Day of Tripura was celebrated with enthusiasm and grandeur at Kumarghat, where Minister Sudhangshu Das inaugurated the official program organized by the subdivision administration on Tuesday. The event took place at the Nazrul Kalakendra in Fatikroy in presence of Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Amalendu Das, Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Sumati Das, Fatikroy Gram Panchayat President Sumita Kar, and SDM NS Chakma.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Das highlighted the historical significance of the day. “January 21, 1972 marked a turning point for Tripura as it attained full statehood. This milestone reminds us of our collective responsibility to uphold the legacy of development and unity,” he stated.
The minister emphasized the progress achieved under the current government, attributing it to the collaboration between the central and state administrations. “Tripura was lagging in development despite attaining statehood. However, with the efforts of the present government, citizens are now directly benefiting from various government schemes. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future,” he added.
The minister also touched upon the government’s initiatives for a drug-free Tripura. “Our government is committed to eradicating drug-related crimes. The rise in cases under the Narcotics Act reflects our strict enforcement. We have directed the police to ensure that no criminal involved in drug trafficking escapes justice. These efforts are yielding positive results,” he remarked, urging citizens to work together for the state’s prosperity.
The event also showcased cultural programs performed by local artists and students from nearby schools, adding a vibrant touch to the celebrations. “The involvement of young talents reflects the spirit of Tripura’s culture and unity,” said one of the attendees.
The day’s celebrations reinforced the pride and aspirations of the people of Tripura, as the state marches ahead with renewed vigor and hope.
