Agartala, January 25, 2025: In a pointed rebuttal to allegations of obstructing the CPI(M)’s rally, Tripura Pradesh BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya accused the opposition of attempting to smear the government to conceal its own failures.
Speaking at a press conference at BJP state headquarters here in Agartala city on Friday, Bhattacharya emphasized that the public is well-informed and such tactics by the CPI(M) are “undesirable and futile.”
Referring to historical events, Bhattacharya stated, “During national crises, the RSS has always stood firm, fighting against foreign powers in the interest of the nation. However, the Congress, which once insulted the Constitution and its writer, is now projecting itself as its savior.” He further alleged that the Congress had altered the Constitution to erase cultural representations but now makes “grand statements about its sanctity.”
Turning his attention to the CPI(M), Bhattacharya criticized the party’s democratic values. “The CPI(M) does not truly believe in democracy. While they have the right to hold political rallies, they must do so within the bounds of democratic norms. If a public meeting is to be held on government premises, prior approval is necessary. This does not mean they can disrupt government programs or hinder students’ education to serve their political agenda,” he remarked.
The spokesperson dismissed the CPI(M)’s accusations as a deliberate ploy to divert attention from their own shortcomings. “The people are not blind. They have access to all the information and can see through these tactics. The CPI(M)’s attempts to malign the government are not only baseless but also unacceptable,” Bhattacharya asserted.
