Assam’s Cachar Cancer Hospital Society Signs MoU with North Tripura District DM to Set up Cancer Hospital at Dharmanagar

Agartala, January 29, 2025: In a significant step for the development of the state and the advancement of medical services in Dharmanagar, an MoU was signed with the Cachar Cancer Hospital Society in Silchar on Tuesday. This development follows prolonged discussions with the Chief Minister of the state, facilitated by the persistent efforts of Biswa Bandhu Sen, Speaker of the State Assembly and MLA of Dharmanagar.

The state government has allocated fifteen acres of land in the Algapur area of Dharmanagar for the establishment of a cancer hospital, with an annual rent of just one taka. Today, a delegation from the Cachar Cancer Hospital Society visited Dharmanagar and signed the MoU with the District Magistrate of North Tripura.

The delegation comprised Neelabh Majumdar, General Secretary of the Cachar Cancer Hospital Society; Ravi Kannan, Director of the Cachar Cancer Hospital Research Center; Bishwa Raj Chakraborty, Treasurer of the Society; Dr. Arun Kumar Bhattacharya, Retired Principal of Silchar Medical College; Sakha Ranjan Roy, Founder Member of the Society, and other members.

Following the signing ceremony, a discussion meeting was held at the Dharmanagar Circuit House with Biswa Bandhu Sen. This initiative marks a significant milestone in improving healthcare infrastructure in Dharmanagar and is expected to greatly benefit the residents of the region.
